Thanks for running over to planDisney with your question, Natasha. I think it's fantastic that you want to participate in a
runDisney event for your honeymoon - it would be so memorable and magical! Will you choose a 5k, 10k, or a honeymoon half marathon? The options are plentiful!
Most
runDisney events open registration between six and nine months before the race date, so you will want to keep a close eye on the
runDisney website as many
runDisney events sell out within the first days of going on sale! With in-person races at both the
Disneyland Resort and
Walt Disney World Resort, there are lots of race weekends to choose from.
Natasha, I looked at the upcoming events, and the only in-person
runDisney event that presently has open races is the
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend in April 2025. However,
runDisney just announced race dates for the 2025 Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend (September 4-7, 2025) and the 2025 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend (October 23-26, 2025). The General Registration dates for those races are December 3, 2024, and February 11, 2025, respectively. I'm not sure when your honeymoon is but maybe one of those dates would work for you!
If you don't already have a MyDisney account from a previous Disney vacation, you'll want to create one on the runDisney.com website a couple of days before race registration opens. Next, you'll need information for you and your soon-to-be husband to register for the race. This includes name, birthdate, address, shirt size, and email address. Certain information like emergency contact information and race shirt size can be changed later, but you'll want to ensure all contact information is correct.
Race weekends can sell out quickly, so be ready to join the queue when it opens! I suggest getting onto your computer or phone a few minutes before registration first opens and having the specific race weekend event page open. When registration opens, a registration button on the event page becomes active, and you will click it to join the queue. Registration can take a few minutes or much longer, so be prepared to wait.
This past January,
my pal Betsy S. and I filmed a
planDisney Beginner's Guide to runDisney podcast. It has lots of tips and tricks for registration, race day, and beyond! I also suggest following
The runDisney Blog for news and announcements. Check them both out and, hopefully, it will help you as you begin planning for your race.
Natasha, if you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to visit us again. I'd be happy to help!
Race you to the finish,
Melissa
