Hi Kristina!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question - I'm happy to help.
One of the main reasons my family chooses to stay at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort whenever possible is because we love the convenience of being able to use the paved walkway to travel between the resort and
Magic Kingdom Park! The walkway is one of the best features for guests staying at the Contemporary.
While I'm aware that some social media influencers have suggested getting dropped off at Disney’s Contemporary Resort to use the walkway to walk over to Magic Kingdom, it’s important to know that this practice is generally frowned upon by Disney. As someone who has been a guest at the Contemporary Resort, I’ve seen firsthand how cars are often turned away at the security gate. Many guests try to use this method to avoid paying for parking at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), which leads to strict enforcement of the
rules.
Guests who do not have a dining reservation or a hotel reservation at the Contemporary are consistently turned away when attempting to be dropped off. Security Cast Members at the entrance ask for proof of reservations, and without that, you most likely won’t be allowed to enter the resort grounds. Based on my experience, when guests attempt to use a rideshare to be dropped off at the Contemporary without a reservation, the driver will be redirected to the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there, the
Walt Disney World Monorail or
ferry can be used to reach Magic Kingdom Park.
To ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience, it’s best to plan to be dropped off at the TTC. This approach aligns with Disney’s parking and security policies and guarantees you’ll be able to start your day without any issues.
Sticking to the official procedures will help make your visit more enjoyable and avoid any surprises. Have a magical day at Magic Kingdom!
