Hi Kim, and welcome to planDisney.
I hope you have a groovy stay at
Disney's Pop Century Resort! It's lots of fun to explore this resort hotel and see all the larger-than-life icons from the various decades - so many photo ops!
It's true that entrance may be restricted to some Disney Resorts Collection hotels when arriving by personal vehicle or by Uber or Lyft. This usually happens with those hotels that are within walking distance to a theme park or popular destination, such as Disney's BoardWalk area. This is to discourage congestion at these resorts and ensure that registered Guests can find parking spaces. Ultimately, it's at the discretion of the security Cast Member at the gate, and they will decide based on capacity and other safety considerations.
Kim, if you've got a dining reservation at a Table-Service restaurant at
Disney's Contemporary Resort, you can show that to the Cast Member at the gate when you arrive in your personal vehicle or Uber and you should be admitted.
Guests with dining reservations may park for up to three hours at a resort hotel; this allows some time to dine and explore the resort.
If you're planning to Uber to Disney's Contemporary Resort and then walk to Magic Kingdom Park, this is not permitted. Your driver will be directed to turn around and park at the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there, it's a short monorail or ferry ride to Magic Kingdom Park; during busy times, Disney Bus Transportation may also be available.
I hope this helps you plan your travels around the Walt Disney World Resort, Kim! My family often drives to Disney, and we usually still opt to use
Disney Bus Service to Magic Kingdom Park rather than driving, as we find that parking lot to be more difficult to manage and time-consuming than the other parks. I know the internet sometimes complains about Disney buses, but I enjoy them - listening to the on-bus music and anticipating all the fun we're about to have (or snoozing on the way home) makes my heart happy.
Thanks for stopping by with your question! We're here to help if you think of anything else, so please stop by again. Have the BEST time!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
