Hey there, Ashley! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Mosey on over and let's chat about one of my favorite ways to "rough it" at Walt Disney World!
A stay in the Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is a really special experience. The extra space at the cabins is perfect for families. Plus, there's so much to see and do at "the Fort," and it's just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom, which is the park of choice for many families with small children. We stopped by on our vacation last week for dinner at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and we made time for my son to have a pony ride. The Meadow Swimmin' Pool has a kids' splash pool with waterslides that are just their size, lots of waterspray jets to play with, and a giant bucket that drenches the whole scene every few minutes. I just can't say enough great things about this place!
Getting around Fort Wilderness can be an adventure all its own, so we always rent a golf cart when we stay. There's an internal bus system, but the golf cart allows you to come and go on your own schedule, and it's fun for exploring, too. Also, the campers at the Fort are known for their elaborate holiday decorations, and your golf cart will be perfect for checking out any Halloween ghosts and goblins decking out the campsites during your September stay.
I hope this helps ease your worries about spending time in the wilderness, Ashley. Please stop by again if you have any more questions. We love to help!
Keep Disney Dreaming,
Kathy K.
