What is the typical wait time to get through security at the Magic Kingdom during busier periods? We are arriving in April, and we will have a backpack. I am trying to gauge what time we should be at the entrance.

Hey there, Stacey! It's nice to see you again! I'm so glad you stopped by with another question. Let's get you on your way!

Security at the Magic Kingdom Park is actually much more streamlined now than it was just a couple of years ago. Guests arriving from the Transportation and Ticket Center or via the Resort monorail now go through bag check before they even reach the Magic Kingdom entrance. Similarly, Guests walking to the Park from Disney's Contemporary Resort also go through security prior to reaching the Magic Kingdom. If you're arriving by bus from another Disney Resort hotel, you'll go through security just past the bus drop-off area before the main Park entrance.

It should only take a few minutes, and I honestly don't think I've had to wait more than 10 minutes or so since they've established the current procedure. The incredibly professional Cast Members at the screening tables will have you on your way before you know it.

Stacey, take it from this Florida girl, April is a gorgeous time to visit. And there are so many amazing things happening at Walt Disney World this spring! I just know you'll have a magical time.

Thanks again for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Stacey! I hope we'll see ya again real soon!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
