What is the typical closure length for Small World in January 2025 when it returns to the original overlay? We want to make sure we plan a trip when this is open.

    Hi there, Yvette!

Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your question!

I can see that you are hoping to visit at the end of January and also wishing on a star that "it's a small world" will have reopened following the holiday overlay. This year is a bit different as "it's a small world" Holiday is actually staying open beyond the Disneyland Resort holiday celebration until January 20th, 2025. I wish I could conjure up some pixie dust for you, but once it closes on the 20th, there is not a reopening date confirmed for "it's a small world". I spoke with a Cast Member who confirmed this news and suggested to keep checking the website for further updates. Typically when the attraction goes down to remove the holiday overlay, there is a reopening date announced. Without one, that leads me to believe the ride is undergoing more in depth refurbishments to make it extra magical when it reopens.

I know this was not the news you were hoping for, Yvette! Attraction closures can typically be found in the Parks & Events Calendar on the website or in "Park Hours & Info" in the Disneyland Mobile App. If you look from January 21st onwards, you can see that "it's a small world" is listed as temporarily unavailable.

With a reopening date unclear, I'm not sure I would pause the magic indefinitely for yourself. There are so many special things to see and do around that time of year. One of my favorites is the Lunar New Year Celebration at California Adventure Park. Celebrate the Year of the Snake through limited-time performances, activities, and delicious eats. Make time to watch Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession, see some classic favorites like Mickey and Minnie in traditional Korean attire, add your very own wish on the Lunar New Year Wishing Wall, and grab a Sip and Savor pass to snack your way through the festivities. I love to check out the Disney Parks Blog Foodie Guide ahead of a visit to get excited and note any must-try treats and sweets.

Yvette, I hope this was helpful. Please feel free to stop by again with any more questions and keep your eyes on that refurbishment calendar.

Sending you on your way with magic,
    Tara
