At Typhoon Lagoon, aside from the After Hours Glow Party are there any character meet and greets? Also, is there anything special that happens at open or close of the park such as characters or shows?

Hi there Kyla, and welcome to planDisney!

Once upon a time, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park did have more character sightings thanks in part to Lagoona Gator - who guests could meet outside the now-vacant beachfront Board Room abode beneath the slanting clock tower. Nowadays, this has since become something of distant memory and character sightings can now be quite rare outside of separately-ticketed Disney H2O Glow After Hours evenings.

That said, as someone who frequents this special spot to cool off year-round (especially with a Water Park and Sports Option added to my Annual Pass), I have seen characters make unscheduled appearances to the surprise and delight of guests. If you happen to spot Character attendants Cast Members in their distinctive berry-blue shirts or if you see the telltale signs of stanchions being set up to create a queue by the previously mentioned Board Room - you may be in luck! We recently had the opportunity to take photos with Mickey and Minnie in their pirate outfits to the sounds of a DJ spinning some tunes which was a nice surprise; I recommend planning your visit around special occasions or holidays like Halloween for a greater chance of this occurring. As far as any shows, entertainment or anything significant happening at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon opening or closing time there currently isn't too much beyond Cast Members happily welcoming and waving everyone in as well as water park-wide announcements.

If you happen to be a Disney Vacation Club Member, Moonlight Magic events also take place here that may include some exclusive character experiences and entertainment. In addition, Cast Member recognition events also see their share of rare character sightings that normally wouldn't be available to guests. There's always a chance that offerings can get updated or change once more in the future, so stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements as they come - and be sure to return to us here at planDisney for any other answers or advice in the meantime!

Wishing you a day of watery fun whether you spot any characters or not!
