Hi Emma!
Thanks for sending your question to the planDisney Panel! I recently returned from a five-day visit to the Walt Disney World Resort and can confirm that is a rumor. I used a cloth mask every day I visited the theme parks and while I was staying at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. Per the
new guidelines, "All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material, fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face, be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free." Also it states: "At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings. Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules." Hope this helps Emma!
Quick tip: Be sure to download the
My Disney Experience app on your mobile phone before your trip! Here you can see wait times for attractions and even where you can place a mobile order for many of the quick service locations!
