What type of proof of citizenship do you need for sailing from Port Canaveral and returning to Port Canaveral for adults and children????

    Welcome Aboard, Marilyn!

Thanks for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm happy to help answer your question!

At this time, U.S. Citizens departing from and returning to the same U.S. port are able to use a Photo I.D. and certified birth certificate to board the ship and re-enter the country. That being said, passport regulations are always changing, and Disney Cruise Line "strongly recommends" that all Guests have a valid U.S. Passport. If you were to encounter an emergency (medical emergency, emergency stop in a foreign country, a late return from a non-Disney excursion causing you to miss the ship, etc.) that required air travel, passports would be needed.

You can keep up-to-date on current passport regulations at www. travel.state.gov . It normally takes 6-8 weeks to get a passport, so if it's something you're considering, make sure you allow enough time to receive them prior to your sailing.

My husband and I made the investment in passports a few years ago, and they provide peace of mind when we travel. (Although my passport photo is awful and provides me no peace of mind at all!) We have yet to get passports for our children, and have sailed with Disney Cruise Line on closed-loop Port Canaveral itineraries many times with them with no issues.

I hope this helps! Have a magical day! - Diane W.
