Hello! What type of ID do my kids (9, 6) need to travel to Mexico from San Diego?

Greetings and welcome to planDisney, Tiffany, we thank you for your question!

In preparation for your sailing with Disney Cruise Line it’s always a sound idea to refer to the current, necessary Passport and Travel Documentation required for your sailing to avoid disappointment, and in reading through for any sailings from/to San Diego it appears that if you are all U.S. Citizens including your children you will all need valid Passports or an original or copy of your state-issued birth certificate AND Government-issued photo ID (subject to change). In my opinion, I feel it is best when travelling beyond the United States to do so with a valid Passport, just to make things smoother for returning to the United States in the event of any unfortunate incidents at non-U.S. ports. Travelling with a valid Passport just gives me extra peace of mind.

Please refer to Disney Cruise Line’s – Know Before You Go resource to also familiarize yourself with the required documentation and any required preparations for sailing with Disney Cruise Line.

As well, at this time please complete your Disney Cruise Line Online Check-In at 30-days before your sailing to complete necessary cruise documentation, select your Port Arrival Time and to pre-register your children for any Disney Cruise Line Youth Clubs if necessary. Also, keep your balance due date in mind because once you pay off your balance and you are within your advance booking window, you will be able to book onboard activities and Port Adventures. Please refer to Disney Cruise Line's Castaway Club membership for details on advance booking windows.

    Tips:
Download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to manage your plans before and during your sailing and to receive daily schedules of activities, Disney Characters, entertainment, dining information and just about anything else needed during your cruise. I appreciate the Onboard Chat feature enabling me to communicate with my fellow travel mates during my cruises.

During your sailing, you may wish to book a future cruise with Disney Cruise Line's Future Cruise Onboard Booking Special Offer using your Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, or by visiting the Future Cruise Sales Desk onboard near the Atrium Lobby.

Tiffany, I hope this information is useful to you, it was my pleasure assisting you today, and I wish you the most wonderful sailing with Disney Cruise Line!

    Best Disney Wishes,
    Jacqueline
