Two questions. We are flying into sanford orlando airport (i messed up). Any thoughts on uber availability. I have a family of 6 and am worried about getting a ride the morning we arrive.. Also, any idea on cost?

Hey there Patricia!  Thanks for bringing another great question to us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

First of all, let's get one thing straight: you did not mess up.  You are bringing your family to "The Most Magical Place on Earth"!  And you booked flights that were a good option for your family.  You are a rock star!  Although it is true that Disney's Magical Express complimentary airport transportation is only available to and from Orlando International Airport, you still have plenty of options to get you and your family to your Disney Resort Hotel form Orlando Sanford International Airport.

I think you are smart to consider a rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft.  Rideshare is very common in the Orlando area, and I don't think you will have too much of a problem requesting a ride when you arrive.  I tested the route in both apps just now, and vehicles were available for pickup within 5 to 15 minutes.  Keep in mind with a party of 6 that you will need to request an XL vehicle.  Obviously rideshare cost will vary with date and time, but my results yielded a one-way cost of around $100.

Another option would be to book a shuttle service for your ground transfer.  The official website for Sanford International Airport ( lists dozen of shuttle companies.  I checked with two that I know have been around for many years and come highly recommended: Mears Destination Services and Tiffany Town Car LLC.  Both provide private door-to-door service and costs were about $145- $160 one way.  Please note, prices are subject to change without notice.

You might also consider renting a car, either for the duration of your stay or a one-day, one-way rental.  National and Alamo have rental desks at the Walt Disney World Car Care Center.  If you rent from one of those agencies, you could return the car there, and take advantage of a complimentary shuttle to your Disney Resort Hotel.  I have rented a car many times for my family's vacations, and have found Walt Disney World Resort is very easy to navigate.

I hope that helps!  Please let us know if you have any additional questions.  Wishing you and your family the most magical vacation!
