Hi, Michaela! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
One of the things that I love most about
Walt Disney World Resort is the way that they go above and beyond to make the magic accessible to everyone. My son is on the autism spectrum, and when we visit the Walt Disney World theme parks with him, we use
Disability Access Service (DAS). DAS is an accommodation intended for Guests who, due to a disability, cannot wait in a traditional queue environment.
DAS has been a huge help for my family when we visit the theme parks, and now that we have the ability to
pre-register for DAS using a live video chat with a Cast Member, it makes using this accommodation even more convenient. Guests who pre-register for DAS will also have the opportunity to select two
DAS Advance experiences per day, based on availability. These DAS Advance selections are in addition to ride return times that you may select during your park visit.
I spoke to a Disability Services Cast Member on the phone about your question, Michaela. Unfortunately, without knowing all of the specifics of your situation, the Cast Member was not able to give me a definite answer as to whether your party would be able to make two or four DAS Advance selections. The way that DAS will be set up for your party is dependent on how many total people are in your group and whether or not everyone is hoping to experience attractions together. Each DAS pass can accommodate a total of six Guests (the Guest who has a disability plus five others). It is also important to note that when redeeming a DAS Advance selection or a DAS ride return time, the Guest who is registered for DAS must experience the attraction along with the rest of the party.
Because each group's situation is unique and I don't have all of the information about your travel party, it is difficult to say exactly how the Disability Services Cast Members will go about setting up DAS for your group. My best advice is for you to reach out to Disability Services yourself. If you are within 2 - 30 days of your Walt Disney World Resort trip, you can go ahead and request the live video chat to set up DAS. If your trip is still a bit further out than that, feel free to
contact Disability Services using the phone number or email address found in this link. Once the Cast Members have all of the information about your travel party and your specific needs they will be able to tell you exactly how DAS Advance planning will work for your group.
Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Samantha
