I have two little girls who love to swim. I am thinking of going on a Disney cruise to Alaska but I'm worried that if the weather is too cold the kids won't be able to swim. So are the pools always open? How does that work?

    Ahoy, Ari!

My four kids love to swim, too -- and they were thrilled this summer to splash around in the warm pools on board the Disney Wonder as the ship navigated through Alaska's Inside Passage.  In fact, on any Disney ship when outside temperatures drop below 70 (F) degrees, the pools are heated to almost 90 degrees. You can see my little boys swimming on board (with majestic Alaskan mountains in the background) in my 7-day diary, "A Mom's Take: Sailing to Alaska with Disney Cruise Line," on the Disney Cruise Line News' YouTube Channel. All my best hints and tips for Disney's Alaskan voyages are there along with a first-hand account of all there is to see and do on the ship and in the ports.

Take a look at the videos and let me know if you think of more questions or need some specific advice. Our family's cruise to Alaska was epic and is one of those treasured set of memories which will undergird our family's connections to one another for many years to come. I'm excited for you that you're considering this itinerary, and with certainty, I whole-heartedly recommend it. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
