Two hours of travel time to a resort from park using bus seems like losing too much fun time. Have own car, how much time should be allowed if we drive. Is the world hard to navigate by car. First trip! 35 days and counting!

    Gina:

Our family sometimes takes a car to Disney, sometimes not. I admit. I love it when we have the car. In fact, when we take our RV, we tolerate towing our car half the time so we have it for the pure convenience of driving to the parks.

Generally, a car is the fastest way to get from your resort to the theme parks, except Magic Kingdom. Parking for Magic Kingdom is in a remote lot, and once there, you must either take the monorail or a ferry to get to the park. You don't mention where you're staying, but the time from each resort to each theme park varies from mere minutes to up to 25 minutes if you're headed to Animal Kingdom from some resorts.

Keep in mind, though, Gina that guests may choose Disney's transportation for other reasons, one of which you allude to: navigation. Signage around Disney is not extensive, and without a map, you may find the time you gain from taking your own transportation eaten up in U-turns and second guesses. Those guests who wish to imbibe can feel confident they will have a safe ride to their resort and others simply like someone else to do the driving when they're traveling. If you have a resort that sports ferry or monorail access to the parks, children view those as simply another attraction!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
