My two and half year old daughter is being diagnosed with sensory processing disorder its considered in the same group with autism and ADHD. We have our Disney trip planned for May and was wondering if she would qualify for the guest assistance card?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Deidre ~

Your trip is just around the corner and I bet you are too excited to sleep already! Planning a trip to Disney is always super exciting but I know from having a child with several types of special needs, that you have more things to consider during your planning. Disney World has now replaced the Guest Assistance Card (GAC) with the Disability Access Service Card (DAS). It works a little different than the GAC did in the past.

The DAS is designed to assist Guests who unable to wait in a regular queue for a number of medical reasons, including those are that not apparent. If your daughter will have trouble waiting in a standard queue, I'd suggest going to Guest Relations at the first theme park you visit to request a DAS. Here are some details explaining how to obtain a DAS and how it works in the parks. You can also find some additional information in this list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS.

Disney is committed to assisting Guests with all types of special needs including those with Cognitive Disabilities. They have put together A Resource for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) which you can find on the link shown above. This will give you some information that may help you before and during your trip.

Please feel free to visit with any other questions. It is my pleasure to assist you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
