Aloha, Alice.
Welcome to planDisney! In just a few short weeks, you’ll be standing right in the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. with a Mickey Pretzel in hand and Cinderella Castle in view. I bet your excitement is bursting at the seams! Have you started counting down the days yet? I know I would be.
Alice, you are more than welcome to
reuse MagicBands from previous Walt Disney World Resort vacations on your upcoming trip. I reuse MagicBands on all of my trips back “home” and have never had any issues. Since your current MagicBands still show as “active” in your
My Disney Experience account, they should be good to go. However, depending on their age, the long-range battery may no longer be working. The long-range battery is what automatically links your
Disney PhotoPass attraction photos and videos to your My Disney Experience account and allows you to interact with various queues throughout the theme parks.
The long-range battery is estimated to have a battery life of about two years, but it’s plausible it could last longer. However, you may want to set up a
Disney MagicMobile pass on your smart device as a backup system to ensure there are no issues with your
attraction photos and videos linking to your account. Make sure you enable Bluetooth for the
My Disney Experience mobile app in the settings on your device after you set up your Disney MagicMobile pass so your attraction photos and videos can link to your Disney PhotoPass gallery, but make a note of the times you experience these attractions just in case. If any photos or videos turn out to be missing after all, reach out to the Cast Members on the
Disney PhotoPass Guest Support team for assistance in retrieving your missing pictures.
Even if the long-range battery has gone kaput and this feature is no longer functioning, your MagicBands will still work at direct touchpoints (theme park entrances, tapping in for Lightning Lanes, opening the door to your Disney Resort hotel room, charging purchases during your stay, etc.). Of course, you always have the option of purchasing a new MagicBand or MagicBand+ on your trip if you would like to. The
MagicBand+ is rechargeable, so you would not have to worry about losing any of its functionality for future magical vacations.
I hope this information proves useful, Alice, but please stop back by planDisney if you have further questions. We're all ears and happy to help!
See ya real soon,
Alyssa
