I have two children with medical disabilities one with diabetes the other asthma I have already booked a vaca to WDW for the first time how friendly is the park with these kinds of things? Can we carry the medical supplies needed around with us as well?

Hi, Frances!  I have to tell you, through the years, I've visited Walt Disney World with people of varying abilities and with specific medical conditions, and of all the places we've gone, I have always found there to be the best effort in terms of accommodations when we visit Walt Disney World.

The first thing I recommend, however, is that you consult with your kids' doctors.  The Florida sunshine, the increased exercise most people experience, and the change in diet can have an impact on many medical conditions, and as a diabetic, I can tell you it really has an affect on my insulin levels.  Your doctor will be able to give you some hints and tips as to things to look for or ways to adapt to the changes in daily routine.

For some guests, they may find the Guest Assistance Card enables them to have a more magical vacation than they would without one.  The card, which is customized for accommodations specific to your party, can be shown to cast members at the attractions, who may be able to offer you a shaded spot to wait, a seat if necessary, or sometimes access to an attraction through a FastPass queue.  You can get these at guest services at the theme park.

You won't have any trouble carrying your medical supplies with you.  I've done the parks with glucose meters, insulin injections, a wound VAC, a mom on oxygen with inhalers, a dad with dialysis equipment - you name it, I've just about done it all.  You may even be able to utilize the first aid stations to help if you need to store something cold (although with things like the Frio packs, you may not need that).

I hope your first vacation to Walt Disney World is positively magical!
