Hi David! Welcome to planDisney!
Oh boy! Two of my favorite things in this world! Walt Disney World and dining! In fact, my family and I have had many trips where we stayed at a
Disney Resort Hotel and ate our way through the entire weekend without stepping foot in a park. We enjoy taking resort-only stays, where we can focus on the amenities the resort offers and all of the restaurants in and around where we are staying. There are countless dining options all over Walt Disney World and each has its own magical experience!
Being a father of two daughters, I understand that children do not always have the appetite to eat an entire meal by themselves. For most dining locations that offer an a la carte menu, your children should have no problem ordering one meal to split between the two of them. There may be a location or two that will charge a split plate fee, but in my experience, I have not run into this scenario. There are many fantastic locations with this type of menu geared toward the entire family. A family favorite of ours is breakfast at
Kona Café located in
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. My wife and I share the Macadamia Nut Pancakes with a side of eggs and potatoes which more than fills us up for a day at the parks. The waitstaff is always extremely helpful and courteous with our requests.
Several dining locations offer prix fixe menus, buffet, or family-style meals. These restaurants will require you to pay a set price for each adult and child in your party. If you have children like mine, it's sometimes hard to justify the cost of the small amount of food that they will eat. But one thing to keep in mind is some of these are
character dining experiences. Although you will pay a bit more for your meal, you do get the extra value of meeting some of your favorite characters.
David, I hope you have some great dining experiences during your upcoming stay. Enjoy being a part of the
World's Most Magical Celebration with your family!
See ya real soon!
