I have two boys who don't eat much; they are 10 and 12, so we had to pay the adult portion price. Does anyone have any advice on how to get the most for our money with Table Service and Counter Service? I can foresee a lot of wasted food!!!

    Hi Daryl,

If you have purchased a Disney Dining Plan, then children above the age of nine years old are considered adults.  My recommendation for you to save money would be to have your children order from the childrens menu and pay cash for it because the meals are typically between $12.00 to $20.00.  Anyone can order from the children's Menu in Walt Disney World (the only places that you would not be able to do this would be at a buffet or a dinner show). You can use the Adult Table Service Dining Credits to pay for the Children's Meal, but a better option would be to pay cash the meals that your sons order from the Children's Meals to save the Adult Dining Credits for another meal or a two Table Service Credit meal at a signature restaurant! Just make sure that you inform your server when you are ordering that you plan to pay cash for the children's meal and then use the Disney Dinning Plan to pay for the other meals for everyone else in your party.

I have used this strategy many times with my son and it has enabled us to eat at more Table Service Restaurants. We saved the Table Service Credits by paying cash for kids meals which are less expensive than adult meals. This strategy saves using an an Adult Table Service Credit for a less expensive kid's meal. The only watch out is that at Buffet type meals you have to pay the full adult price for kids 10 and up so you will not be able to utilize this method.

I hope you have some amazing dining experiences at Walt Disney World on your next trip!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
