Can two adults split one dinner at any of the table service restaurants? Neither of us can eat a full portion meal and sometimes the kid menu isn't as appealing. We find that sharing the meal w/extra plate works well for us.

Howdy Cheri! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your excellent question!

I have to say; the incredible food is one of the things I look forward to most whenever I have an upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation on the books. As you can imagine, it's hard to resist all of the delicious snacks as you walk around the parks, so I often find myself absolutely stuffed by the time I get to my dinner reservation. So, splitting a plate is a fantastic idea and a great way still to try out a few of the excellent restaurants while on your vacation.

I am happy to share that you can absolutely split a meal at most restaurants throughout Walt Disney World. The only exception would be any spots that offer a prix fixe menu, which is priced per person, like Space 220 Restaurant at EPCOT or the delicious 'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort (one of my absolute favorites). But, you are good to go at any restaurant with an à la carte menu.

Cheri, did you know that you can start making Advanced Dining Reservations 60 days in advance, beginning at 6 a.m.? Plus, if you are staying as a Guest of a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you can make the dining reservations for your entire stay 60 days before your check-in, giving you a jump start on some of those hard-to-get reservations. I like to have all my preferred restaurants listed out ahead of time and then set a reminder on my calendar to ensure I don't forget to log on and get to booking. So, I would recommend looking at the menu before that 60-day mark to check that you can split a plate as planned. You can do this using your My Disney Experience app by clicking on the search icon (the magnifying glass on the bottom bar) and searching for the name of the restaurant you are thinking of booking. From there, click on "View Menu," and you will see either individual item pricing or a price per adult, which indicates that it is a prix fixe menu.

Cheri, I hope this has been helpful to you! I just know the food throughout Walt Disney World will be one of the highlights of your upcoming vacation. If you have any other questions or would like to hear some restaurant recommendations, please don't hesitate to reach back out!

    Bon Appétit!
