Hi! I am turning 21 while in Disney. What do I do if I can not get my updated ID in time before I go? My ID will still have my birthday on it so they can see that I am turning 21 that day, but it would be a vertical orientation and not horizontal.

    Welcome to planDisney, Samantha!

I’m so happy to hear that you’ll be visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth during your 21st birthday! WOW! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate! (You’ll also be there during the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Walt Disney World Resort! So it will feel like double the magic!)

Samantha, I had a friend that celebrated their 21st birthday at the Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks, and they did not have their new “horizontal ID” with them on that trip. I can tell you that they just explained their situation, and showed their server the valid ID that they did have, and they were able to be served alcohol without any fuss! All they’ll be looking for is your birth date, and your ID will have that information readily available! As long as you are showing them your ID on or after that date, you should be good to party!

Be sure to grab your complimentary “Happy Birthday” button at any of the gift shops within the Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks! If you have additional questions, we hope to hear from you again at planDisney

See ya real soon, birthday girl!
