Welcome to planDisney, Nicole.
There's no better place to celebrate a birthday than The Most Magical Place on Earth. I think it's brilliant that you want to honor and love your mum (*ahem* sorry, mom) on her 70th birthday. Having personally celebrated special occasions at Walt Disney World, I have some suggestions for you to make her birthday "practically perfect in every way."
The first thing I'd recommend is stopping by Guest Relations at any Theme Park and telling them you're celebrating her birthday. They'll give your mom a special button which she can wear throughout her trip. Cast Members will see that button and be able to wish her a "Happy Birthday!" This is a really great and simple way to make her feel special.
Second, I'd encourage you to spend some time at the
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. There are some beautiful gardens that are blooming with flowers and stunning
topiary displays featuring famous Disney characters. I'm sure your mom will be delighted by the creativity and natural splendor on display. The festival also has some truly
delectable dishes and delicious drinks she can try. If you take a leisurely stroll around World Showcase, you'll find a variety of foods from different cuisines that look as great as they taste. And since you'll be in EPCOT, you must watch the new nighttime spectacular,
Harmonious. Also, at nighttime, Spaceship Earth is majestically lit up as one of the
Beacons of Magic. This is sure to be a core memory day!
You can also order her a special
Mickey Mouse celebration cake. You can pre-order it (choosing the flavor, size, and custom engraving) and have it delivered to any participating restaurant. If you'd like some suggestions for the perfect restaurant, then I'd particularly recommend Cítricos, The Hollywood Brown Derby, Jiko – The Cooking Place, or Narcoosee’s. However, you can't go wrong with any of the restaurants
on the list. I will say, Nicole, that you'll want to make dining reservations as soon as possible, if you haven't already done so.
If cake isn't her thing, you can order her a
celebratory basket, floral arrangement, or balloon bouquet from
Disney Floral & Gifts. If she would enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience, then check out the
Enchanting Extras Collection. You'll find VIP fireworks parties, spectacular shows, and fascinating tours. On my most recent trip, I was able to enjoy a VIP dessert and fireworks viewing of Harmonious with my planDisney friends. It was truly magical.
One final suggestion: Ask yourself, "What would she find special?" A family photo in front of Cinderella Castle? Ice cream on Main Street, USA, while watching the parade? Taking a water taxi across Seven Seas Lagoon? Sitting on a bench with a DOLE Whip and talking with her daughter? You know your mom best. I trust you'll give her the BEST. DAY. EVER!
ChEARS,
Mike
