Happiest birthday wishes, Julia! I can think of no better place to celebrate another trip around the sun than the Most Magical Place on Earth.
Walt Disney World Resort accepts a few forms of identification for buying alcohol. The
policies on valid forms of identification have more detail, but generally speaking, you can use original, government-issued photo identification that includes your birthday to show you are legally able to drink, such as a driver's license or photo ID issued by a state in the U.S., a passport from any country or a passport card, a U.S. military ID, a NEXUS card, or a driver's license from another country with a copy of passport.
The policies say identification must be original, and paper copies are not allowed. I have asked this question a multiple times, and 99 times out of 100, I have been told proof of identification must be permanent cards or passport booklets. Paper identification is not accepted. I have had that one in 100 who told me another form of identification would be preferred, as temporary forms are
typically not accepted.
Walt Disney World reserves the right to refuse alcohol to anyone for any reason. Temporary identification is not explicitly included on the list, and ensuring the document's validity can be more challenging. All of this to say, if you have another form of identification that is on the list, bring it. If not, the chances of being able to buy alcohol with a temporary paper ID are definitely not guaranteed.
There are some tasty, fun drinks if you are limited to zero-proof beverages on your trip.
La Cantina de San Angel has stunning views that pair well with La Cantina Slushy. The
Enchanted Rose at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has a variety of very sophisticated non-alcoholic beverages. And
Wailulu Bar & Grill in
Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows tops my list of future destinations. It looks so magical, and friends say the food and drinks are divine. It is the perfect backdrop for a Zero-Proof Piña Colada. 'Ohana!
Julia, I am sure you were hoping for more positive news. I hope your permanent card arrives in time for your trip to lift your spirits. If we can help with any other questions, please come see us again at
