Hi Victoria!
Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Welcome to the "40 Club". I also turned the big 4-0 this year and so far, so good!
I think running is a great way to exit your comfort zone and it comes with some great benefits to your health! One of my favorite things about runDisney races is that they are truly for all runners - no matter if you've been running for decades, or months!
My suggestion is to check out the race calendar on
runDisney's website. There are race themes for everyone's interest. Each race weekend offers short and long distances. I would suggest starting with either a 5K (3.1 miles) or a 10K (6.2 miles) and work up from there!
Each race comes with a
custom training schedule designed by Olympian, Jeff Galloway. He is the official runDisney trainer and has some great tips! I use his run/walk/run intervals and I absolutely love it. It has made longer distances possible for me.
It's also a good idea to do a local race to get used to the feeling of "race morning" and to help calm your nerves. Knowing you've already run a race will help you relax and enjoy the magical miles runDisney has to offer.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if I can help you with your first runDisney race!
