Hello and welcome to
planDisney, Kellie! Thanks for visiting us to ask your question.
Kellie,
Steakhouse 71 is actually one of my new favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World. I've had the pleasure of dining there on multiple occasions now and every single time I am impressed. Believe it or not, I've had every menu item on the dinner menu and there was not one thing I did not like. I can't say that about too many restaurants even at Walt Disney World!
I think you'll be delighted to know that there are several entree items on the
dinner menu at Steakhouse 71 that actually aren't steaks. Right now your other options include the Florida Sustainable Fish en Papillote, Chicken Chasseur and one of my favorite entrees the Vegetable "Wellington". My good friend and former panelist,
Allyn isn't a huge meat eater either. When we were dining there together she had the Vegetable "Wellington" and it was honestly just as good if not better than some of the steaks that were on the table. The puff pastry is filled with mushroom duxelles and fire-roasted artichokes with romesco and brussels sprouts. It was mouth-watering delicious and I'm not one to go for vegetarian-type dishes normally. Our entire table actually loved it. There are also so many appetizers and side dishes that aren't centered around steak so I don't think finding something that you are going to love is going to be that troublesome.
Kellie, one thing I enjoy about vacationing at Walt Disney World is how accommodating they can be to Guests' requests. I can't say for sure if you'll be able to order off of the lunch menu or not when you dine there this spring. I do think it will mostly be up to the Chef's discretion. If you take a look at the two menus you'll see that there aren't a lot of menu items that crossover meaning he or she might not have the means to make you something from the lunch menu at that time. However, it never hurts to ask. When I dined there just a few weeks ago, I asked if I could switch out the regular macaroni and cheese side for the loaded mac that is just served in the lounge area. At first, it wasn't possible but with a little Disney magic our server brought out a piping hot side of it for me to share with my family since I had raved about it so much to them. So, you just never know!
I hope it will work out that you'll be able to order what your heart (or stomach) truly desires during your meal at Steakhouse 71. Whatever you do decide to order, be sure to end your meal with ambrosia. It's such a modern twist on a vintage dessert and let me tell you... it's not your grandmother's recipe! It's a great way to end a fantastic meal.
If you have any other questions about this or anything else before your trip, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm happy to help.
Have fun and enjoy!
