Bright Suns Laurie,
I'm Ashley, a Human-droid relations specialist coming to you from the planet planDisney. I'm happy to answer your question about one of my favorite experiences, building a lightsaber at
Savi's Workshop-Handbuilt Lightsabers. To wield a lightsaber, you must have a high Midi-chlorian count and be incredibly sensitive with the Force. I still remember the day the Gatherers guided me through building my lightsaber at Savi's. The experience is genuinely out-of-this-world, and I hope you get a chance to experience it.
The Gatherers at Savi's spend a lot of time carefully salvaging the pieces that will become a saber. Unfortunately, they only have limited spots available each day for Jedi and Padawans to forge sabers due to limited quantities. I double-checked and saw that all reservations have been secured for May 15th at this time. But don't fear yet; it does lead to the dark side after all. I have three recommendations for you:
If your plans are flexible, go ahead and book a reservation for another available date that fits your schedule. Savi's is a popular experience at Batuu, so if you can get a reservation, definitely book it so you don't miss out.
Check back later. As other Guests change their schedule, there is always a potential (though not guaranteed) that a spot will open up closer to your trip. I once secured a reservation 24 hours before the date because someone canceled theirs to avoid being charged a cancellation fee. If Sunday the 15th is the only date you can experience Savi's, it definitely doesn't hurt to keep checking back daily.
Some members of the Rebel Alliance informed me that
Disney Springs and
Tatooine Traders in Disney's Hollywood Studios are offering opportunities to build custom lightsabers. You can also try out one of the other lightsaber experiences if you cannot secure the date you want. These experiences require fewer credits than Savi's as well! The quality of the lightsabers is admittedly different. If the lightsaber is going to be used as a toy, I would recommend one of these experiences; the lightsabers are less fragile and more suitable for younglings. But if your lightsaber will be more of a collector's item, stick with Savi's.
I'm so sorry that you have not been able to reserve Savi's for the day you want; I will keep hope alive for you. If you need anything, please reach out to us for help with your future planning needs. May the Force be with you, Laurie.
Til the Spires!
Ashley F.
