I am trying to reserve a spot at Mickey's Backyard BBQ for the night of our arrival but it is not available for reservations yet. Will it be open while we are there? If not, what would you recommend for a variety of ages - 2, 3, 7 and 14 - boys and girls

Hi Misty! Mickey's Backyard Barbecue is a fun way to spend an evening with the family and some of the famous Disney characters. If you are unable to secure a reservation for this it possibly could be due to the time of year. You didn't mention when you were going to Disney but since this is an outdoor activity the hours and days it is offered in the winter months changes.

A great substitution would be the wonderful Hoop Dee Doo Revue dinner show also held in Fort Wilderness. This is available three times nightly throughout the year and is actually the longest running show in the country. All ages can enjoy this as audience participation is used throughout and the food is basically the same as the Backyard Barbecue except it is served to your table and not a buffet.

If you book an early dinner be sure and head there early to enjoy visiting the Disney stables where the Magic Kingdom horses call home as well as Cinderella's ponies. If you dine later then stay for a viewing of Wishes from the beach and the great Electric Water parade which will pass by approximately at 9:45 each night.
