Hi there, Mary Anne. Thanks for bringing your question here to planDisney! Let’s get you the answer faster than Lightning McQueen on race day.
To purchase
Lightning Lane Passes, you must use the
My Disney Experience mobile app, and your
theme park tickets have to be linked to your account. You can book these experiences at 7 a.m. EST, 3 days before your ticket start date, or at the same time, 7 days before your
arrival date if you're staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel. To purchase these passes, click the three horizontal lines (☰) in the bottom right-hand corner of the My Disney Experience mobile app and click the "Lightning Lane Passes" tile. Then, underneath the product you're looking to purchase, click the purchase button and then select the date on the calendar for which you'd like to purchase the passes. Afterward, select the park and the type of pass (or passes) you'd like to purchase, press the "Continue" button, select the Guests you're buying for, and continue to follow the prompts. Ka-chow! Your Lightning Lane Passes will be ready in no time.
If your ticket is not linked to your account, you'll want to
go to the linking page on the Walt Disney World Resort website or select the "My Tickets & Passes" tile on the mobile app. Once you click this tile on the app, you'll then want to click the "Plus" button in the top right-hand corner, click "Link Tickets & Passes," and toward the top of the screen, select "Camera" if you're going to scan a QR code or "Type ID" if you're going to type in the ID number of your tickets. Once your tickets are linked, you'll be ready to zoom ahead with the rest of your planning.
If you're purchasing passes for more than just yourself, you'll also want to ensure that the Guests for whom you're purchasing are linked to you through the My Family & Friends list. To do this, select "
My Family & Friends" under the My Disney Experience menu on the Disney World website, select the blue "Add a Guest" button toward the top right-hand corner of the screen, and follow the prompts. Once connected (or if already connected), you'll want to make sure that both you and your friends have toggled on the option to "Allow [insert name here] to view and modify the plans you share" by selecting the "Edit Settings" button next to each other's names. After that, your whole travel party will be ready to plan together, like a well-tuned pit crew.
Mary Anne, if you run into any issues, don't hesitate to
reach out to a friendly Cast Member at the resort for more immediate assistance. If you need any other suggestions or tips,
you can reach out to me, and I'd be happy to help keep your plans rolling smoothly!
Happy planning,
