Hi there, Amy! Welcome to planDisney!
Whenever I visit the
Walt Disney World theme parks with my son who is on the autism spectrum, we use
Disability Access Service (DAS). DAS is an accommodation intended for Guests who, due to a disability, cannot wait in a typical queue environment. I would be happy to help you learn more about the DAS registration process.
If you feel that DAS would be helpful in meeting your needs, you have a couple of options for registering. If it is between 2 to 30 days before your theme park visit, it is possible to pre-register for DAS via a live video chat with a Cast Member. To pre-register for DAS, you'll need to click on this
DAS registration webpage and read over all of the information. Once you scroll down to the "Ready to Chat with a Cast Member?" section, you'll need to click on the "Terms and Conditions" button to review and accept the Terms and Conditions. After that, you can scroll down the page a bit further and you will see the "Request Live Video Chat" button. Once you click on this button, you will be redirected to a chat window and eventually connected with a Cast Member.
Please be aware that the wait times for a video chat can be quite long. When I need to pre-register my son for DAS, I try to choose a weekday and log on right at 7:00 A.M. as this seems to result in shorter wait times. However, I still often wait several hours before being connected with a Cast Member. I just carry my laptop around the house with me while I do other chores and try to be patient. Once you are connected with a Cast Member, you will need to answer a few questions about how DAS could help you in the theme parks. If it is determined that DAS is a good fit for your unique needs, the Cast Member can register you right then and there.
If you complete the DAS pre-registration process, you will then be eligible to select two
DAS Advance experience selections per day, based on availability. These DAS Advance selections are in addition to the DAS ride return times that you may book throughout the day of your theme park visit. The Cast Member on your video chat will connect you with another Cast Member that can assist you with booking your DAS Advance selections.
If you would prefer to skip the whole video chat process, you may also register for DAS in person once you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort. When you first arrive at one of the theme parks, just head directly to the front entrance
Guest Relations location and let the Cast Members know that you would like to discuss registering for DAS. The in-person registration process is essentially the same as pre-registering via video chat, however, you will not have the option to make those DAS Advance selections.
Amy, if you would like additional information about the DAS program, feel free to
reach out to a Disability Services Cast Member. You'll find their contact information by clicking on the link. They are wonderful at making sure the magic is accessible to everyone.
See ya real soon!
Samantha
