I've been trying to pre-register for a DAS pass for 3 days now and can never get anyone on the chat. How can I tell if I'm still in line or if my chat times out and I lose my place??

Hi, Elizabeth!  Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!

When I visit the Walt Disney World theme parks with my son who is on the autism spectrum, we use Disability Access Service (DAS).  This is an accommodation for Guests who, due to a disability, cannot wait in a traditional queue environment.  DAS has been incredibly helpful to my family, and now that Guests have the option to pre-register for DAS before they arrive at Walt Disney World Resort, it is even more convenient.

The pre-registration process for DAS can be done 2-30 days prior to your theme park visit and takes place via a live video chat with a Cast Member.  If you are helping another member of your party register for DAS, please make sure that they are available during the video chat.  During the video chat, a Cast Member will ask you a few quick questions to determine if DAS is a good fit for you and your unique needs.  If they determine that DAS is an appropriate accommodation, they will also need to take a photograph of you (or the person you are registering for).  If it is decided that your party will be using DAS during your theme park visit, then at this time, you will also be able to book up to two one-hour return windows per day for select attractions using the new DAS Advance planning option.  These experiences are in addition to the DAS return times that you may request once you are in the parks.

I really like the ability to complete my son's DAS registration before we arrive at Walt Disney World Resort.  That being said, the wait times for the live video chat can be quite lengthy.  I have waited several hours to be connected with a Cast Member.  In my experience, as long as you leave the chat window open, you will not lose your place in line.  For shorter wait times, I recommend trying to complete your video chat on a weekday and logging in right at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time when the video chat hours begin.  I usually choose a day when my son is home with me and I have some things to do around the house.  Once I have a chat window open, I just move my laptop around the house with me while I do other things as I wait to be connected with a Cast Member.

If it is not convenient for you to endure a long wait to complete the DAS pre-registration video chat, you do have the option to register in person once you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort.  DAS registration can be completed at the main entrance Guest Relations location at any of the theme parks, and it's a quick and easy process.  Please be aware, however, that if you register in person, you will not have the opportunity to make those two DAS Advance experience selections.

If we can help answer any other questions for you as you get ready for your trip, please stop by and visit us again.  See ya real soon!
