We r trying to plan WDW trip for Jan. 7-16 2013. Not in any marathons (celebrating granddaughter's 3rd b-day Jan 14th). How do the marathon weekend events affect the park crowds? And/or resort fees? Should we avoid this time? Thanks. Luv the panel!

    Hi Linda!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.  That time period is typically very quiet at Walt Disney World except for that Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday and Sunday will be crowded in the theme parks, but still not bad, especially when compared to the busy summer months or a holiday weekend.  I wouldn't be worried about Marathon Weekend.  About the only thing I would worry about is if you wanted to enjoy the water parks; while one will be open and heated, the air temperature can still make that a chilly experience.

Thus, if January is a good time for you to visit, I would definitely plan on coming!  I personally like going in January and February as I love the cooler weather.  If you do go, be sure to pack clothes that you can wear in layers.  I have been there when it's been relatively warm in January and I have been there when you needed gloves, a hat, and a scarf!

Good luck with your decision, and write back if you have any more questions!
