I am trying to plan a vacation to Disney World in August of 2009. There will be at least 4 adults and 3 children age7,6,5. I would like to be in Orlando for at least 7 days so we can see alot of the attractions. Can you Give me any suggestions?

I would suggest that the later in August that you can travel the greater your chance of avoiding crowds. It is very hot in August so plan for a mid-day rest out of the heat.

Start looking at different accommodations on Walt Disney World property in the value, moderate and deluxe categories. See which resort best meets the budget and needs for each family. It’s always more convenient if you can stay at the same resort but not necessary. We’ve traveled many times when some of our family stayed at a different resort.

I would advise planning at least 2 days at the Magic Kingdom, 2 days at Epcot, 1 day at Hollywood Studios (if you are interested in most of the shows here then it may require more than one day) and 1 day at Animal Kingdom. A day for a water park or swimming at your hotel would be a nice diversion from the theme parks. Allow for mid-day breaks back at your resort. This is a nice time to nap or unwind at the pool.

For dining, you’ll want to determine if your traveling party will eat together. Plan no more than one table service meal per day if your goal is to see and do as much as possible. For girls, try a princess character meal and for boys, try Donald’s Safari Breakfast and for the whole family, visit Chef Mickey’s.

I hope this helps you get started with your plans. You are getting started early which is a great idea. With some advanced planning, your trip will be magical!
