I am trying to plan a vacation for my 60th birthday with my two grandsons and family. First week of May is only time my son in law can get off. How busy is it usually in May?

Hi, Gina! What an amazing birthday celebration you will have with your family. Don't forget to pick up your birthday button at the front desk of any Walt Disney World Resort hotel or at Guest Services located in any Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park.

My family's last Walt Disney World Resort vacation was just this past May from the 3rd - 10th. The weather was absolutely amazing - not too hot, not too cold. The best way I can describe the crowd level is not as sparse as when we visit mid-January, though not nearly as busy as when we have visited in mid-June. While most children are still in school early May, there are a few (especially College students) who are out for the summer starting May 1st. While there is never a bad time to visit, this was an enjoyable time of the year for us - you will have a fantastic time!

A little tip: If you arrive at the Theme Parks in time to walk in right when they open (rope drop) you will be able to enjoy several rides with minimal wait times. Schedule your FastPass+ selections for mid-day when wait times are the longest.

Wishing you and your family a magical vacation, Gina!

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
