Hiya Jonathan - welcome to
planDisney!
Thanks so much for stopping by with your question about
Disney Resorts Collection hotel reservations! Here at planDisney we're all about planning ahead, so I really like where your mind is going with this question! As we all know, schedules and plans change all the time, and recently that's been more true than ever.
The great news is that the
Walt Disney World Resort has great cancelation policies to help you out in these situations. Currently, room-only reservations (i.e., you only reserve a room - no tickets or other add-ons) will be fully refunded if canceled at least five days prior to arrival. For vacation packages, which include a room, tickets, and more, you can receive a full refund if you cancel at least 30 days prior to arrival. Please note that these policies are for rooms and vacation packages booked directly through Disney. Some third-party components of vacation packages (e.g., car rentals), even when booked through Disney, may have different rules/fees. If you book entirely through a third party (e.g., a travel agent or booking website), their policies may also be different. For these reasons, I always book all aspects of my Disney vacations directly with Mickey!
In your situation, you might consider booking two separate vacations. I think this is a bit simpler than booking one long vacation and then removing only certain days, especially if you are booking a package with tickets and other add-ons. So, you'd book two ideal trips, one for each of the two weeks that are options, and then cancel the one you won't be using. Hopefully, the school calendar is finalized soon! You'd want to cancel one of your trips as soon as possible so other Guests hoping to enjoy the same room will have access to that availability and can plan their own magical vacation!
I hope this information is helpful! I'm sure more questions will pop up as you continue planning -
please let me know if there is any way our team of panelists can help you!
