I am trying to plan a trip in the first week of March for my bf and myself. We are flying from Maine so the price of that alone adds up. We plan to only go for about 3or 4 days. Any money saving tips?

    Hi Antonio!

Well, planning a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort sounds like a perfect way to celebrate a friendship!

We are always on a budget! First, I suggest you check the Special Offers to see if any apply to the dates of your visit. Walt Disney World Resort Hotels include several different categories with different price ranges. Typically, Value Resort Hotels have been least expensive when we were looking for great accommodations within a tighter budget. My girls and I love Disney's All-Star Movies Resort Hotel. Others are just as cute with exceptional service including Disney's All-Star Music, Disney's All-Star Sports, Disney's Pop Century, and Disney's Art of Animation Resort Hotels.

Second, I check pricing for vacation packages and compare pricing when separating the resort hotel and theme park tickets. In my experience, we have saved money by doing multiple day tickets. So check the price difference between 3-day and 4-day tickets. My family usually adds one of the Disney Dining Plans. Before doing so, check the menus of restaurants that you might like and do a sample food budget based on your dining preferences. Since we prefer two or three meals per day, a dining plan is a better option for us.

When we do not add a dining plan, we have to remember that we pay separately for drinks, appetizers and desserts. Be sure to check the details of each plan so that you know what is included. When we used the Disney Dining Plan, we used our meal entitlements for lunch and dinner so we brought breakfast snacks to avoid paying out-of-pocket for breakfast. I also consider the time it would take to go off-property to eat, especially since we typically fly and do not have a car. We like to maximize our time in the parks, so we only dine in the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs. We also bring refillable water bottles and pick up complimentary ice water from quick-service restaurants while in the parks so that we do not spend dining plan snack entitlements on water.

We do 1 Park Per Day Tickets rather than Park Hopper tickets when on a tight budget. If you stay for four days, you could visit all four parks, one park on each day of your trip. This past year, we actually became Annual Passholders because we were planning multiple trips to the Walt Disney World Resort in this upcoming year. We did the math and an Annual Pass saved us money, especially considering that all digital PhotoPass downloads and park hopping are currently included as are other discounts on merchandise and food.

No matter what, we value the benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, in particular, the ability to make dining reservations for our entire trip 180 days in advance and FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance.

Antonio, you are clearly in the lead for "Friend of the Year" awards! Sending pixie dust as you plan!

    Magic and memories,
