Hi LaToya, and welcome to planDisney! Staying at Disney World with 20 family members is one of my most cherished core memories. So I’d be happy to help with your question.
While Disney World doesn’t have any houses or other accommodations that will fit all 30 of you in one space, there are a few different options that might work.
When I’m at Disney World with my extended family, we usually stay at one of the
Deluxe Villa Resorts and book multiple 2 Bedroom Villas. The capacity and layout vary by resort, but the 2 Bedroom Vilas sleep eight to nine adults and feature two to three full bathrooms, a full kitchen, a living room, and a washer and dryer. My family loves having the extra space to hang out together away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks, and it’s a great setup if you have little ones with early bedtimes.
Depending on the makeup of your group, you could book a combination of Deluxe Studios (sleeps four to five adults), 2 Bedroom Villas (sleeps eight to nine adults), and 3 Bedroom Grand Villas (sleeps 12 adults) at the same Deluxe Villa Resort. Two of my family’s favorite resorts are
Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village (my family still talks about seeing zebras right from our savanna view room) and
Bay Lake Tower (where you can watch
Happily Ever After from the balcony in the theme park view rooms). There are generally not as many 3 Bedroom Grand Villas as the other two room types, so you may find availability is more limited.
For a more affordable option, I also love the Family Suites at
Art of Animation Resort and
All-Star Music Resort. These accommodations sleep up to six adults and feature two bathrooms, a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a living room with two Murphy or sofa beds, and a kitchenette. My favorite is Art of Animation Resort with its fun themed areas that includes a Cars section that will make you feel like you're right in the middle of Radiator Springs!
As you start to think about making dining reservations for your trip, I wanted to share a tip that’s been helpful when I’m with a large group. Usually, we’ll book multiple smaller reservations at the same time, or within about 15 minutes of each other. Typically, you can only hold one dining reservation around the same timeframe, so you’ll need different people in your party to each book a reservation. When you get to the restaurant, let the Cast Members know that you’d like to be seated together or near each other, if possible. They’ll do their best to accommodate you, depending on the available tables and layout.
I hope this helps you find the practically perfect accommodations for your ‘ohana! And if you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
