We are trying to plan our trip to Disney World this year and have two dates in mind - the week of August 11th or the week of Thanksgiving. My husband doesn't want to be there in August because of the weather but would Thanksgiving week be too crowded?

    Rebecca,
I understand your concerns about the weather and crowds.

Let me see if I can help you with your decision. Bring rain ponchos for either month. If you go in August, it will be hot so stay hydrated. Crowds will be higher the week of Thanksgiving.

The week of August 11th: August typically has average temperatures ranging from 73 to 92. Rainfall can be heavy at an average of 6.8 inches in the month of August. Last year for that specific week, highs were 94-98 with lows 70-76. There were 2 days with a trace of rain and 1 day with heavier rain/thunderstorms.

    The week of Thanksgiving:
November average temperatures 58 to 79 with rainfall 2.3 inches. Last year there were highs 75-80 with lows 53-60. One day with some rain and one day with a just a trace of precipitation.

You will need to factor in whether touring in lower crowds in the heat is better for your family or higher crowds in more pleasant temperatures. Although it could be chilly at times in November too. The other consideration I would make is that you will pay higher prices traveling in November, especially over the Thanksgiving weekend. The advantage is that the holiday decorations will make the trip even more festive.

If you can, I would recommend the week before or after Thanksgiving. Otherwise, think about the considerations that I mentioned above. Most of all, enjoy the magic!
