Trying to plan a trip to Disney but don't want to pull 10 year old out of school for a week. Looking at the week after he gets out of school - - June 21st, or the week before he goes back - Wed before Labor Day. Which is usually the least busy?

    Hi Kathy,

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

For the past few years, my family and I have visited Walt Disney World during the third week of August, because, like your son, my daughter heads back to school during the week before Labor Day.  We find that by the third week of August, many schools are already back in session, and therefore, the crowds are a bit lower.  There will still be some crowds, but not as high as earlier in the summer.  It is typically pretty hot in Orlando in August, but by taking lots of pool breaks, drinking lots of water, and heading to the theme parks first thing in the morning and leaving before the heat of the day in the afternoon, we are able to stay cooler and have a good time.  The third week of June, your other option, will probably be more crowded than late August  Around the third week of June, most school children are out of school for the summer, thus making the crowds a bit higher.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Kathy!  Have a great time planning your vacation, and please do come back and ask if you have any further questions.
