Hi, I am trying to plan a trip to Disney around Christmas and know that I have to book very soon as it fills up . I can’t find on the site park hours for December . Can you recommend what week you think would be best to visit ?

Hello, Georgie! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Christmas is one of my absolute favorite times of year to visit Walt Disney World Resort. Walt Disney World is magical no matter when you go, but there’s something extra special about the decorations, the shows, the music, the Characters in their holiday attire, and the special sweet treats offered during the holiday season.

My family and I always visit the week before Christmas and come home on December 23. While the Theme Parks are definitely crowded during the holiday season, we’ve had good luck securing our dining reservations (especially when booked right at the 180-day mark) and our FastPass+ experiences during that week, too. I would definitely recommend staying at an official Walt Disney World Resort hotel so you can book those FastPasses up to 60 days in advance. As an official Walt Disney World Resort hotel Guest, you’ll also be eligible for Extra Magic Hours (which are another great way to maximize your time in the Theme Parks during the busy holiday season). Additionally, you can take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express for your transportation from and to Orlando International Airport (and leave the driving to Disney with complimentary transportation between your hotel and the Theme Parks while you’re there).

While Theme Park hours are only published 180 days in advance, in my experience you’ll find a good selection of regular hours and Extra Magic Hours during the holiday season. Although hours and experiences are always subject to change, for the past several years there’s also always been at least one night that Magic Kingdom Park is open until midnight (for Extra Magic Hours) during the week before, the week of, and the week after Christmas. (I love all of the Theme Parks, but Magic Kingdom is my favorite during the holidays!)

Hopefully these tips will help you start planning your Walt Disney World Resort holiday vacation, Georgie. Please feel free to come back and ask more questions about this most magical time of the year.
