Hi Anthony!
So glad that you cruised over to planDisney with your question. It’s always been a DREAM of mine to do a transatlantic cruise, too. Two weeks of sailing and getting to see some European destinations? Where do I sign up? Like you, it’s always been the timing that’s been the major factor in my not being able to do this one though. Something about my kids being back in school then made it pretty impossible!
A
transatlantic voyage is considered a repositioning cruise to relocate a ship to a new cruise region. For that reason, it explains why these itineraries are scheduled in May and September: that's when Disney Cruise Line needs the
Disney Magic in its new location to start the next round of cruises! Captain Mickey knows what he’s doing in this regard.
As a result, I don’t expect the timing of these transatlantic sailings to change in the future. Like you said, it’s standard operating procedure. Talk to a Disney Cruise Line Vacation Planning Specialist and they can help you plan a magical getaway on one of the many other
great itineraries offered! Or you could create your own back-to-back cruise combining two itineraries if your goal is to maximize the number of days to be on par with a transatlantic voyage.
Sending you lots of pixie dust as you search for the perfect adventure for your crew! Anthony, sail back to
planDisney if you need any additional help planning your getaway.
SEA ya real soon!
