I am trying to plan my stay for the Princess 1/2 marathon, If I stay at the Beach club am I able to walk to the start line or do I have to take a bus? And, when it's over is there a way to walk back to my resort without using a park admission?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Emily!

Thank you so much for your question - this is a common one amongst runners staying at Disney's Beach Club Resort during the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend.

You will need to take event transportation to access the Start Zone Area, runners are actually prohibited from trying to access the starting line and corrals on foot and risk disqualification by attempting to do so. And while Disney's Beach Club Resort seems within walking distance and is my top resort recommendation, the race area itself is not accessible from this resort on foot.

Once you've completed the race, bus transportation back to your resort is right near the finish line (not where you were dropped off). There is no other way back to your resort on foot other than to cut through Epcot®, which, as you mentioned, would require a theme park ticket. To try and cut through the woods and marsh, or walk along the main roads wouldn't be safe.

You've selected a great resort! Even though you will need to take event transportation, this area does offer the shortest commute! Keep these tips in mind to improve your experience:

    • Plan on boarding event transportation by 3:30am
    • From the Start Zone Area, you will have about a 15 minute walk to the corrals and starting line - you will wonder where in the world you are and where in the world you are going. It's ok, I promise! However, you will quickly see why you wouldn't have been able to walk there from the Beach Club.

I hope this helps give you an idea of what to expect on race morning, Emily. Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions you may have. I want your race-cation to be magical!
