Trying to plan our next trip to WDW/DCL. I love WDW but I've not been on a cruise since childhood. Which do you suggest for 3 (maybe 4-5 adults)? Thanks.

    Ahoy Emily!

Thanks for cruising back over to planDisney as you start planning your next Disney adventure.  Like you, I’m looking ahead to our next vacation, and it’s always a tough choice between Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney World Resort.

While some may think Disney Cruise Line is the ultimate family vacation (and it most definitely is!), don’t underestimate how much fun a group of adults can have sailing together.  My husband and I enjoyed a romantic cruise together for my birthday several years ago.  We loved the adult-exclusive dining and enjoyed indulging in several relaxing activities, such as a couples massage on Disney Castaway Cay.  Last year, I was able to sail on a 4-night cruise with some of my fellow planDisney panelists, and we had the best time playing trivia, dancing in silent discos, floating around Castaway Cay, and checking out the different lounges on the ship.  You can also connect with the kid inside as you hug your favorite characters and take in the incredible Broadway-style productions in the Walt Disney Theater.  My planDisney classmates and I loved The Golden Mickeys on the Disney Dream, where we got to enjoy productions featuring some of our favorite characters like Tarzan, Cruella de Vil, and many others!  Disney's Believe is an original production and another great show.  It always brings a tear to my eye - don’t miss it if it’s offered during your cruise!

Of course, Walt Disney World Resort is also a great destination for grown-up fun, too!  When I visit without my kids, I tend to enjoy later nights in the theme parks, my favorite thrills (such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind), and snacking my way around the parks.  If your time allows, you could always consider booking a night or two in the parks and then setting sail on a 3- or 4-night voyage from Port Canaveral to enjoy the best of both vacations!  If you do this option, I’d suggest spending time at Walt Disney World Resort before your cruise, as the relaxing vibes on your ship will be really enjoyable after the hustle and bustle of the parks!  You’ll even be able to add ground transportation right from your Disney Resort Hotel to Port Canaveral.

Emily, I hope this information is helpful, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy whichever vacation option you choose!   As you continue planning your next Disney vacation, please feel free to stop by and see us again here at planDisney - we’re all ears!

    “Sea” ya real soon!
