We are trying to plan a last minute trip to the Orlando area Christmas week. We'll only have one day for Magic Kingdom. I know it will be extremely crowded. What week day do you think might be the least crowded that week?

Hi Shannon! Spending the holidays in Orlando sounds like a lot of fun! You're right that the Disney parks are usually at maximum attendance levels during the week surrounding Christmas, so you're smart to be planning to try to visit the Magic Kingdom on one of the less busy days.

If you'll be in Orlando the weekend of December 20 and 21, those days would likely be less crowded in the Magic Kingdom than days closer to Christmas. If you can't visit on either of those dates, consider December 26. Many guests will go to the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day, so the day after Christmas will likely be less crowded, although it will still be very busy. When planning my park visits, I like to consult the crowd prediction calendars on unofficial websites like and, and both of those sites are recommending December 26 as a good day to visit the Magic Kingdom.

To make the most of your one day at the Magic Kingdom, be sure to arrive before the park opens and head to your most desired attractions first. Take advantage of the Fastpass service to minimize your time in line, and make dining reservations so you won't be wandering around trying to find a restaurant with an available table.

Wishing you a magical vacation! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
