I am trying to plan my first WDW vacation for myself and my two toddlers (3 & 5). I have no idea where to start! There is so much to do! Help?

    Hi Whitney,

Planning your first Disney vacation can be daunting; Walt Disney World is huge!  Luckily, we're here to help you along the way.  The moms on the panel want everyone to experience the same joy and magic on their vacations as we have with our own families.

The first thing you need to do is decide when you want to travel and where you want to stay.  If your budget allows, I recommend a deluxe resort like the Polynesian, Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge.  These resorts have easy access to the Magic Kingdom via monorail or ferryboat.  It makes leaving the parks for a midday rest super easy.

If the cost of a deluxe resort is a bit more than you are willing to pay for your first Disney vacation, I think the value resorts are a great option.  Pop Century has rooms that are fun & colorful.  Your boys will love the larger than life icons that are all around the resort.  The food court offers some great options as well.

Once you've decided on a resort, you can decide on park tickets.  If it's just you traveling with your two boys, I recommend keeping it simple.  Just go with the Magic Your Way base tickets.  You'll be able to visit one park per day, which should be enough to keep you and your boys happily entertained.

Then you need to decide on a meal plan.  This is something you can always add to your package at a later date.  Unless your boys are huge eaters, I think you would be fine just paying out of pocket for meals.  Children's options are relatively inexpensive, so it would be mostly be you that the plan would be for.

Hope this helps.  Once you've made these decisions and booked a trip, we can help you with the "must see" attractions and answer any other questions you might have.

Hope this helps get you started.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
