I am trying to plan our first trip to WDW for January 2014 for a Christmas gift for my 3 boys ages 9,7,3. I am nervous about planning a trip that all 3 will be happy with and have a great time. Do you have any suggestions??

    Hi Danielle -

What lucky boys to be getting a trip to Walt Disney World for a Christmas present!

I would start by ordering the Walt Disney World planning DVD. This will give you lots of tips on planning and also let you see many of the attractions. You can use this as a guide to start your planning. If you are going to have the trip be a surprise for them on Christmas, maybe you could wrap the DVD for them as a present.

Once they know about the trip, I would let the boys create their own customized Disney theme park maps. By creating these customized maps, each boy can let you know what his top few choices of attractions are in each park. These customized maps will be sent to your house. You can use the attractions that they choose to start to build a plan of what attractions to visit while you are at Walt Disney World. When we visit, each member of my family selects two or three attractions that we want to see at a park. Once we get through everyone's choices, everything else is extra and no one is allowed to be disappointed. Be sure that you let the adults in your party choose attractions, too!

Finally, you might want to start to think about where you would like to dine.  Reservations at some of the most popular restaurants can fill up quickly, and are available 180 days before you travel. I suggest that you make some choices about where you would like to dine now and go ahead and make those reservations.

I hope that this helps you get started with your planning, Danielle. I would love to help you plan more; however, I am limited in the space that I have to answer. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
