I am trying to plan a family vacation in late November/early December 2024 for 7 adults and 5 children (ages 5-11). I need advice on options for spending two days at your theme parks, options for places to stay for 5-7 days and other suggestions.

    Hey there, Ed!

Welcome to planDisney and thanks for bringing your question to us. We appreciate the opportunity to help you plan a magical Disney getaway with your family. First of all, I wanted to say that it might be beyond the scope of a single answer to give as thorough a response as you'd like, but please feel free to write back to me or any of us on the planDisney panel if you'd like to continue this discussion.

My first recommendation would  be to consider a Disneyland Resort Vacation Package. It will conveniently group your Theme Park Tickets and Hotel stay into one transaction. You will need to pay an initial deposit but the remainder of the balance won't be due until 30 days before arrival. You'll need to book a separate package for each hotel room that you'd like to reserve for such a large group. My favorite hotel on property is the Disneyland Hotel whereas my favorite Good Neighbor Hotel is the Candy Cane Inn.

If you're going to be spending only two days at the Theme Parks, then I would highly recommend investing in Park Hopper tickets and adding Genie+ to your tickets. There's so much to see at both Parks and you'll want to have the option of hopping back and forth between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. Having Genie+ will give your family the option of utilizing Lightning Lane entrances at participating attractions, which will save you a ton of time and allow you to see more throughout the day.

Once you book your Vacation Package, it's important to realize that park reservations are released 180 days in advance for standard tickets. So for your visit, plan on booking your reservations around the beginning of June. Be thinking about where you'd like to eat as well, because dining reservations become available 60 days in advance.

The entire Resort will be decorated for the Holiday Season during your stay. It's one of the most beautiful and festive times to visit. The Festival of Holidays is an event that takes place in Disney California Adventure and is included with the price of admission. At the Festive Foods Marketplace, you'll be able to purchase and try out a collection of multi-cultural diverse treats that are Holiday themed.

Depending on your family's experience with the Disneyland Resort, I think you could easily spend more days in the Parks. If you would like to take that time to explore Southern California, then there are many local attractions for the curious tourist as well!

Ed, I hope that this response was helpful for you. I couldn't get very detailed with the space I had, but if you'd like us to expand on any portion of your itinerary, please simply write back to us and we'd love to continue being involved in your vacation! You're always welcome at planDisney. Until next time!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
