I am trying to plan a Disneyland trip and am planning to stay at one of the Disney hotels. However, I have a family member who is having some health concerns and so I am wondering what the cancellation policy is in case we need to reschedule our trip.

    Hello, Kelly,

"Oh, bother." Health concerns aren't exactly a happy thought. I hope your family member is well soon and you can enjoy a special experience at the Disneyland Resort to celebrate.

The cancellation policy for bookings at the Disneyland Resort Hotels depends on the way you make your reservation. If you book a Vacation Package (hotel stay and theme park tickets combined) through the Walt Disney Travel Company, the terms and conditions state that cancellations done at least 30 days before arrival will not incur fees for the hotel and tickets portion of the reservation. Vacation Packages canceled between 4 and 29 days before arrival will only have a $200 cancellation fee. (Amounts and terms and conditions are subject to change.) No refunds are offered for Vacation Package cancellations made 3 days or less before arrival. In all cases, any third-party add-ons and/or travel protection plans may be subject to fees.

If you book a hotel-only stay at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels, reservations may be canceled without penalty if done at least four days in advance. If a hotel-only stay is canceled fewer than four days in advance, only the first amount for the first night plus applicable taxes and fees will be charged. Be sure to check conditions at the time of booking, in case of any changes.

If you separately purchase theme park tickets to go along with a hotel-only stay, those tickets will be non-refundable. But the nice thing about most Disneyland Resort theme park tickets is that they generally have a generous expiration policy. In most cases, even expired theme park tickets retain their value and can be exchanged for new tickets of equal or greater value as long as they are fully unused. For more information, see the Disneyland Resort eTicket Terms and Conditions.

Kelly, I pray for the best possible outcome for your family member. May you enjoy a most magical time at The Happiest Place on Earth!
    ~Tony
