Hi Peggi!
Thank you so much for your question! I've not stayed off property for a Walt Disney World Vacation since the mid 90s, so I asked around about off property deals. What I've found is that you can spend almost as much money you would as staying on-site once you add on the 'extras' that you'll need to maneuver an off-property vacation. The only time you would (generally) come out ahead would be if you were renting a suite or home off-property. Even then you would still have to add on transportation time/costs, etc.
Also, when you use the term
'Good Neighbor'--it sounds like you might be planning a Disneyland vacation, as many of the hotels there are labeled 'Good Neighbor' and can actually be booked through
www.disneyland.com. Those hotels do provide great deals for a west coast Disney experience.
If I were you, I'd check out
www.disneyworld.com and look in to the value resorts and see about how they run. I'd suggest if you are trying to save money, I'd look into getting the basic Magic Your Way tickets (without park hopper).
Have a magical vacation!
Amanda
