Hi, we are trying to plan a disney trip for March and was wondering whether it is warm enough for the waterparks, or would we be better booking for maybe may thanks alison

    Hi Alison,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It sounds like your family likes to spend time in the water as much as mine does. The Water Parks at the Walt Disney World Resort are phenomenal so I understand why you want to visit when you can take full advantage of them. I'm not sure if you plan to visit Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park or Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or if you hope to visit both. There are so many fabulous activities at both that it can be difficult to choose!

The weather in Florida can be a little finicky in March but the relative warmth is one of the reasons people flock to the Sunshine State for spring holidays. The average high temperatures in March are in the 76°F to 79°F range (24°C to 26°C) with average low temperatures of 56°F to 59°F (13°C to 15°C.) Those temperatures are sufficiently warm for many people to swim since the pools at the Resort Hotels and the Water Parks are heated to a comfortable 81°F. When you jump to May, the average high temperatures are in the 85°F to 90°F range (29°C to 32°C) with average low temperatures of 65°F to 70°F (18°C to 21°C.) With warmer air temperatures, a day at the Water Parks is bound to be refreshing!

There is one additional tip that might help you with your decision. In the winter months Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park take turns closing for a yearly refurbishment. Except in cases of unusually cold weather, one Water Park remains open while the other is being spruced up. Generally, both Water Parks are open by the middle of March. If you plan to visit in early March, you may only have one Water Park to visit. If you visit in May, both Water Parks are typically open all month.

My final recommendation is that you consider a stay at Disney's Yacht Club Resort or Disney's Beach Club Resort. The two resorts share the splashtastic Stormalong Bay pool complex. There is a sand-bottom pool with a variety of features. We have spent several afternoons floating in the whirlpool section!

Alison, thank you for stopping by with your question. If you have any other planning questions I hope you will let us know. We're always here to help!
    Wishing you a magical holiday,
    Amy H.
