Hello, I am trying to plan a Disney holiday. May I ask, if staying on site, at what point can you start to make dining/ride reservations?

Hi Karen! You’re asking a great planning question! Knowing the date that you can begin booking Disney Dining reservations is an important part of planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! In fact, Disney Dining experiences are so good, that I get just as excited for planning them as I do planning reservations for the Disney Parks!

Guests staying in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel are able to make their dining reservations 60-days prior to their vacation arrival (check-in) date. And, as an extra bonus, Guests staying in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel can make reservations for up to 10-days of their vacation stay! That is a fantastic perk of staying in a Disney Resort hotel! All other Guests can make reservations 60-days in advance, but not for the extended 10-days.

Karen, I’m sure you’re planning some exciting Disney Dining reservations! Please know that some dining locations are extremely popular and, as a result, book very quickly. I recommend marking your 60-day date on your personal calendar and making your reservations as early as possible!

Regarding ride reservations, that is handled a bit differently. Several years ago, Guests could book ride reservations, in advance, using the FastPass system. That system has been retired to the Disney Vault. A new system, known as Disney Genie+, now exists for Guests to book ride reservations. This ticket “add on” can be purchased on the “morning of” of your visit to any of the Disney Parks. You can purchase Disney Genie+ simply by tapping your My Disney Experience app beginning at 7:00 AM the morning of your park visit(s). Prices for Disney Genie+ vary by date and park, so be sure to check your app in the morning for daily pricing. Once you’ve purchased Disney Genie+ you will be able to reserve select attractions, throughout your day, with minimal wait times for those attractions!

Karen, I hope these tips are helpful! Please come back planDisney with any additional questions!

    Happy Planning!
